Generation Unit
This unit generates ultra-stable low-phase noise master clock (typ. 10 MHz) and other derived synchronization clocks which are distributed throughout the communication network. A built-in GPS receiver is used to provide universal time to the network and to eliminate the need for periodic calibrations.
The FGU is designed with many features to facilitate daily operations:
- built-in GPS receiver to control long-term stability and alleviate the need for periodic time calibration.
- monitoring and control over the LAN
- hot swappability
- flexible redundancy schemes (1:1, 2:1, etc.)
- shares the same universal chassis as most other MSS designed boards (channel units, telephone interface card, data / fax modem card, etc.)
