This unit is designed to modulate a digital data stream directly at L-band (950-1450 MHz). The carrier frequency is synthesized and can be tuned by software command anywhere in the 500 MHz band by steps of 10 KHz. BPSK, QPSK, spread-spectrum modulation is supported. Multiplexing of DC power, 10 MHz master clock and L-band modulated signal is provided for direct connection to most VSAT outdoor units. The design emphasizes low production cost.

Typical applications include VSAT indoor unit, AMSC/Inmarsat L-band transmitter.

This L-band modulator can be used as daughter board for a satellite modem.
