- MSS introduces the MSS-316 L-band arbitrary
waveform generator, with up to 256 MB of stored data samples. Baseband
samples are first synthesized on a host computer using a simulation program,
then uploaded at high speed to the MSS-316 over the LAN.

- MSS introduces the MSS-312 L-band satellite
data broadcast receiver. The receiver allows mobile users equipped
with an omni/hemispheric coverage antenna to receive reliable data from 9.6
Kbit/s to 2 Mbit/s over L-band satellites (TMI / Motient / Inmarsat, etc).
Turbo product code provides excellent bit error rate performances.

- MSS introduces an IP-enabled variable
data rate QPSK modulator for satellite use. Variable data rates range from
10 Kbps to 2 Mbps. Intermediate frequency is at 70 MHz. Turbo product code
provide 7.3 dB gain at 10-6 BER.

- MSS completed the design of a satellite radio
on a single IC. This IC includes QPSK and COFDM demodulators, as well as
forward error correction. The source code for this software radio is written
in VHDL and is thus portable to a variety of FPGA and ASIC technologies. The
design size is over 1.7 million gates.
